first race back
so i decided i would head up to the NHIS crit and give racing a shot. my last road race was over a year ago, and it ended badly. i have been putting in alot of hours. but they have all been low intensity hours... not the stuff that makes you go fast. josef told me he was coming up, so now i was committed... we line up, and im about to piss myself, im soo nervous. i start at the front, and promply slide to the very back of the pack. haha. that took all of 15 seconds. after a few laps of riding at the back, i was feeling a little more comfortable and started moving up. i knew i dont have the fitness to stay off the front, but decided to try it anyways... hmm. better than i though, but got caught before long. wait a bit.. try again... same result. josef goes... nice. once they start to want to chase him, i go to the front and block. odd, they seemed to all line up behind me thinking i was going to chase.. umm no? anyways, worked like a charm, and josef stayed away for a while. i moved up in the last lap, and finished in the top10.
bad news is that my lungs were hurting. i got home and was wheezing bad. ugh. woke up this morning with a baaad headache. ugh.
anyways, it was fun to race with josef again.. and although i didnt have any high-intensity power, i was encouraged to see that i could still hang based solely on my base-level fitness... thats a good sign of things to come :)

that's some crafty blocking by my boys there! Thanks for not mentioning that i sprinted for 2 primes that weren't primes... that (lack of) bell ringing had me confused. Other than that, great race, and nice crowd. if it wasn't so far up narth, I'd be back soon.
