Here is the problem with the "nanny state" argument - in many cases of accidents where seatbelts are not worn, and in a majority of motorcycle crashes where helmets are not worn, the victims are either uninsured or underinsured. As a result, they require government assistance for their medical care. It seems to me that if you don't want the state "in your business," then you should be required to forego any state assistance in the event of an accident.

... ok. fine by me.

so by your arguement, if you have adequate insurance, no law on requiring seatbelts or helmets, right??

i've been the "victim" of an uninsured drunk driver. it sucked. but thats not the goverments problem.
