that was odd...

while i have been putting in quite a bit of hours lately, i still have felt..well...slow. i have been consistently riding between 2-4hrs/day, 5 or 6 days per week, so i know i am getting fitter, it just hasn't been showing lately. anyways, yesterday i as soo sluggish at work. i had FIVE (5) cups of coffee, and still felt like i was going to fall asleep at my desk. this could be the result of having worked 15hours straight the day before, or my lack of enthusiasm regarding any project i am working on, or possibly due to riding alot.

so i am driving home, and the last thing i feel like doing is going for a ride, but i forced myself to get out there and at least do a quick spin. Much to my surprise, after a 20min warmup, i started my block of tempo... hmm.... i feel pretty good.
odd. after 30mins, im feeling really good. im cranking up hills in my 53, that i have lately been doing in my 39. oh well. sometimes you can never quite tell how you feel once you get on the bike. hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

i did something on my ride that i am typically adamantly against. i rode on the sidewalk. yes. i did. living in downtown manch, it takes about 15-20mins before i can get to the backroads. thats all fine and good except for one section. about a mile on Brown ave. The city, in its wisdom, took out the shoulder of this 4 lane road, and put sidewalks on both sides. i have NEVER seen anyone use these sidewalks and i ride this route almost every day for 5 years now. anyways. as there is no shoulder, and the white line is basically ON the 8" granite curb of the sidwalk, it makes for a kinda sketchy section. cars fly by pretty fast, and they are all pissed that i am there, leaving little room to ride. its annoying. its nerve wracking. and i dont like it. so i decided im sick of it, and from now on, i am just going to ride on the 5' wide pave sidewalk for this section. i feel ok with it now. its not worth getting nailed by some redneck dick in his pickup truck who wont move over.
