Results.. season over.

just got a call from the docs. positive for lyme disease.
i dont want to say im happy about this... but it certainly explains alot.
4 weeks of antibiotics... then they test me again after 6 weeks.

i felt like such a whiny pussy the last month... but damn, i have been soo tired, unable to train.. dropping out of races.. it was getting pretty discouraging/demoralizing/depressing, to say the least.

probably no point in racing... right now, i am only good for 10-15mins at race pace anyways. they said i caught it early & should recover fine.. but basically to take it easy until things clear up.

so if anyone needs me to pit for them... let me know :)

thanks to John Hanson for suggesting i go get tested!! He went thru all this shit last year.

Dang. Well, that explains a bunch. We know you have had the training. And you looked great at Agawam and Sucker Brook. Take care, buddy. If you need anything, just yell.

that really does explain a lot. at this rate our fields are going to have 3 people in them by the time RI rolls around, people are dropping like flies.

rest up and hopefully we'll see ya at some races.

any idea on how/when you might have gotten it?

i know i got bit early June by a deer tick.. but i got him off right away (w/i 6hrs) and i never got a rash or anything else... continued to train thru september..
but by late september, i wasnt feeling quite right...

about 4 weeks ago, i was feeling pretty fatigued... the last 2 weeks have had a hard time staying awake at work...

the doc said the tests only show that its been "recent" w/i the last few months...

dont worry, ill still be hanging out at the races.. now i can harrass you guys more.

just be warned. im coming back with a vengence next year!

wow - i've know quite a few people who've been nailed...

and the split is 50-50 with those who make it through with no lingering issues and not...

good friend in michigan is still fighting it 6 years later...

a college friend was a pro ballerina and all set to go to college in NYC at one of the conservatory things... well lymes told her no way...

a friend on MV got a fever this summer, was tested and whammo - lymes. Didn't get a rash, nothing else, just a fever, and he was fine almost immediately.

Good job getting tested...

Recover and get well, get well...

Oh damn, that sucks Justin! I hope you get treated and get better soon .

NH public radio had a segment on it a few months ago that I thought was informative, apparently it is really bad in southern NH. I know of another cross buddy who got it earlier this year as well.

Call me. I'm going through Lyme right now. I can give you every resource in our area to investigate. I didn't realize that you were Lyme-sick yesterday when you and I and Mark S. were chatting before your race. I too have tried to race and train this year while having Lyme.

Seriously, call me or e-mail me.

OH JJ!

In a way I suppose it is nice to know there is a "reason" but SHIT this isn't the reason I wanted to hear about.

Well, rest is good. Take care of yourself--antibiotics can be terrible for your body.

I hope you do still come around to a few races. . .

You and I will be best injured cheerleaders they have ever seen.

I have been taunting Pierre and others by telling them that there is still 4 laps left when there are indeed only 2 left.
