we'd have a riot doing heroin
so me & allie headed up to Eliot, ME to see the drunken cholos play last night. for those of you not in the know, the cholos are the original lineup of the queers, (circa 1984). "a day late & a dollar short" lp sums up this era quite nicely..
given the popularity of the queers, i was expecting a huge show of aging punks, scenesters, and random old people coming out of the woodwork to see this epic event... so we get to this place. its great. basically a small town hall. too funny. there was like 40-45 high school kids there.. a few old dudes like me... and one 6yr old kid. it was great. it was like i turned the clock back to when i first started going to shows.. kids that i would have written off as not having a clue about this stuff, knew all the words. it was aweomse. there is hope, yet.
a few bands played first.. went out side and i chatted with joe for a bit before they went on, as i hadnt seen him in a while...one more band, and then the cholos were on.. it was a blast. tight. fun. raw. of course, unless you know the lyrics, you would have no idea what wimpy was singing.. but thats the best part about it. haha oh, and another thing i love -it started at 6pm.. so by the time joe/wimpy/tulu where done it was 10pm. sweet. so by 10:30pm, we were back on the road to manch.. in bed by 12.. back up at 5 to go to work this morning. ugh.

Hey, great video of the show. Thanks for coming out-I put it together. It really was an odd set up, but it was the only place I could find in the Portsmouth area on such short notice. Plus we had to be out by midnight! I was a really fun time, though. I like fun hall shows like that way better than smoky bars any day.
